Tonight-

by Staff Writer

Prison Break is on now. I find the time slot for this show isn’t to my liking, so I rarely watch it. Have to say I preferred the leading actor (can’t think of his name right now) in John Doe.

At 9pm is Justice

10pm CSI: Miami. Now we were watching a repeat of News Radio earlier today and came across Khandi Alexander (the medical examiner) on that show. What a difference in roles!

Monk

by Staff Writer

I got into Monk over the summer and have been working my way through the boxed sets. This weekend, I sat down with Season One and got to know Monk’s beginnings. I liked Tony Shalhoub in Wings, but in Monk he plays neurotic very well. I think it is the best crime drama show on the air.

I still have a lot of catching up to do. At first, I wasn’t sure I liked the actress who plays his nurse, but she certainly is growing on me…

Tonight - Cold Case

by Staff Writer

Given the football delays that usually occur, I’m doubting I’ll see much of Cold Case tonight. I have to admit that I’m growing sick of the delays with footballs. At least the political debates are over!

In the meantime, I’m finding that I almost prefer the other channels that are starting to syndicate some of these shows - USA, TNT, TBS— I can usually watch last year’s shows on these channels during the early evening hours. That helps. I ran into an issue with taping shows via Dish Network - late at night they run their maintenance programs that require your satellite box to be reset (push select) and that screwed up a show’s taping last week. Instead of my show, I got an hour of my show and then four hours of a screen telling me to push select. So now I’m really not happy and thinking of checking out Comcast when they finally are set up here.

I know some say they watch all their shows on the computer, with a family I can think of far better ways to be spending my time. When my kids come home, my computer turns off, that’s a family rule.

Anyway- my thought today has been about some of the real Cold Cases out there. The shows good, but one case has always stuck in my head. When I was in the 6th grade, one of my classmates suddenly moved away, never to be heard from again. Our teachers told us that he’d moved to Florida and then told us that no one was to talk about it.

It wasn’t until almost a decade later, possibly two, later that I learned his mother and younger sister had vanished into thin air. His father remarried and moved to Florida. He was now wanted in their disappearance only he had vanished too.

I’d love to see that show featured on TV. They’ve yet to find the father and hopefully some day they will…

CSI - Greg

by Staff Writer

I have to say I’m getting ticked with the new format of CSI where a case is left open. It’s definitely more realistic, but not the format that the show had been using.

The bigger issue right now is with Greg. If you watch the show, you saw the one where the gang of teens were wandering the town beating up tourists. They kill one and partway through the show Greg comes across them on his way to another crime scene. He drives in and beeps and goes to break up the beating, only one of them turns on him with a rock in hand. He runs the guy over in the process. If you haven’t seen this show yet or last night’s show and plan to - the rest contains spoilers.

Now Greg was justified in my mind. As it was he was badly beaten by the others. But the one with the rock, he ran for the truck and wasn’t going to stop. I would have run the guy down too.

Meanwhile, the guy’s brother has vowed to get revenge. Greg was found innocent last night - “excusable” was the term. That didn’t stop the family from slapping Greg with a personal suit for wrongful death. The brother in the meantime has no confronted Greg twice (bathroom and then gunned his engine in a parking garage.) I feel it is time for Greg to get a restraining order - turn the tables a bit on that family who need to get over the fact that their son was involved and not as nice a person as they seem to think.

Tonight’s TV

9pm

CBS has CSI (original). This case involves the murder of a woman who terminally ill. When the murderer leaves a replica of the crime scene at the actual crime scene, they realize that they need to bust behind to catch the killer from a few weeks ago who murdered the rock star (Danny Bonaduce.)

CW (if you get the station) has what looks like an intriguing show on tonight’s SUPERNATURAL. Dean is accused of murder. However, Linda Blair (Exorcist) plays a detective who is convinced that a ghost may have done it.

10pm -

SHARK is on CBS. The kidnapping of an 8 year old may be related to a similar crime that occured fifteen years ago.

Bones 11/8

by Staff Writer

Last night’s Bones was pretty good - next week’s looks even better.

Bones and Booth were investigating the discover of two bodies off the interstate near Las Vegas. The first body is that of a federal prosecutor who has been missing for five years. The second, fresher body is determined to be that of a female boxer, the pair go undercover.

To find the killer, it becomes apparent that Booth and Bones are going to need to get into the illegal glove-free boxing competitions. Bones picks a conservative school teacher (Roxie) outfit. Booth has something else in mind –something skimpy, tight fitting and black. Using her idea of what her father’s favorite silent screen actress would have sounded like, Bones comes up with a pleasantly amusing act.

Back home, the crew have uncovered substances, pine tar, on both bodies. The boxer was badly beaten. They figure an opponent must have done it, but after testing her, they realize the injuries are from a baseball bat.

It appears that to get invited to these illegal boxing matches, one must have plenty of cash. They do finally access one and the boxer attacks Booth - he passes out. Turns out that boxer is an undercover cop that Booth knows. They decide the best plan of action is to have Booth sign up as a boxer. The ring leader changes Booth’s opponent at the last minute and it looks like Booth has met his match. Bones is able to help him win the match by picking out the other boxer’s weak spots.

When Bones goes to claim her winnings, the bookie refuses to pay stating that somehow they cheated. He also tells Booth that he will be fighting again, like it or not. When they are “escorted” back to their hotel, Bones and Booth manage to get the gym owner to talk. He gives names and reasons and the pair are able to arrest the illegal boxing ring (mobsters).

Jerry Bruckheimer

by Staff Writer

I’ve been chasing a toddler all week while my friend from out of town trains for a new job. So I’m trying to catch up on posting what had been in the back of my mind.

The new movie, Deja Vu, directed by Jerry Bruckheimer, makes me wonder just how this man manages his time. He’s got movies and a number of television shows (CSI, CSI Miami, CSI NY, Justice, The Amazing Race, Close To Home, Cold Case, Without A Trace) He did both Pirates Of The Caribbean movies. He’s working on a second National Treasure movie, the third Pirates movie, Prince of Persia, and G-Force.

This man must have no free time!

Tonight’s TV - Bones

by Staff Writer

Tonight’s Bones looks good. The pair go undercover in Las Vegas - Bones is going to have to dress up like a real seductress, so it should be interesting!

At 9pm, Criminal Minds head to Seattle to battle a bomber.

10pm finds the CSI NY team delving into teh murder of a paintballer and his fellow player is missing.

Last Night Was A Bust

by Staff Writer

Every channel we have aired the results from the election. So TV last night was a bust. Thankfully, we do get a Canadian channel, so I was able to watch House. Unfortunately, I can’t talk about NCIS and Gibbs new love interest. :-(

Tonight’s TV

by Staff Writer

NCIS deals with the death of a marine after a bomb goes off in a country club. Gibbs gets a new love interest tonight. Something will brew on the jealousy front for Lauren Holly’s characters I’m sure.

Standoff has the case of a sniper who has targeted people in the Los Angeles area for three decades.

The Unit takes on the rescue of a seventeen-year-old girl from a cult.

Law & Order CI investigates the death of a music producer.

Some programming is going to be delayed or taken off the air for election coverage.

Tonight’s TV

by Staff Writer

Tonight - Prison Break and Justice are both on.

Fox doesn’t say much for Prison Break, but then that show keeps you on your toes usually anyway. The quest for Sarah and Michael to reunite continues.

Justice - A millionaire’s wife is found dead on board a yacht. The team have to prove that her husband is innocent.

Cold Case

by Staff Writer

There was a delay as usual. The story last night revolved around a woman who was murdered in the 1970s. She had been a member of a “free love” type partner-swapping group. Football delayed the show in most areas.

It did bring an interesting point to the air.

The woman had led on a teenage neighbor. Dirty dancing and all the likes. In the end, he felt she had really been interested in him, so he made a move and she rejected him. He killed her in the heat of the moment.

My husband raised an interesting point. If he murdered her as a teenager, would he be tried as a teenager even though he was now in his 40’s?

Tonight’s TV

by Staff Writer

I’m sure football will delay these shows—in fact there was a letter to the editor in TV Guide stating that giving Without A Trace the 10pm slot during football season was a huge mistake. Too many people simply cannot stay up until 11:30 - 12:00 when a work day follows.

I tend to agree. I didn’t understand why they moved Cold Case to 9pm. They could have had Cold Case in the same time slot, move Without A Trace to 9pm and then put that reality show that I don’t care to watch to a whole other night or to the 10pm slot.

Anyway-

Cold Case - Jeffries reopens a late 70s murder of a woman. He’d made a promise to her young daughter that he’d find the killer and he never suceeded.

Without A Trace - A woman who had the demons rid from her body during an exorcism vanishes.

Monk

by Staff Writer

This happens to be my favorite newer-to-me show. Because I missed it the first few years, I have the first disc of the season one boxed set sitting in my pile of things to watch this weekend.

I often wonder what (I want to say it was NBC) thinks of the fact that they scrapped the show? USA picked it up and it has become a huge success. It’s won awards numerous years and continues to be a highly watched crime drama… it offers proof that cancelling a show without trying it in another time slot isn’t always a great idea!

Friday Night

by Staff Writer

Tonight the Chevy Chase Law & Order episode airs at 10pm. I’ll still unsure on this - seems they are picking Mel Gibson again…

In tonight’s episode, Chevy Chase plays a drunk driver, only he gets rather nasty and shouts racial slurs. His arrest is the court case they will be covering.
