Monk
This happens to be my favorite newer-to-me show. Because I missed it the first few years, I have the first disc of the season one boxed set sitting in my pile of things to watch this weekend.
I often wonder what (I want to say it was NBC) thinks of the fact that they scrapped the show? USA picked it up and it has become a huge success. It’s won awards numerous years and continues to be a highly watched crime drama… it offers proof that cancelling a show without trying it in another time slot isn’t always a great idea!

You do know NBC owns USA right? They just moved it over.

About NBC I’ve had a love hate relationship ever since I found out they cancelled original star trek after season 3!! I’m not that old, just a Star Trek lover.

oops, forgot the point about Monk, I’ve never really watched it, I guess it’s a timing thing, but my mother LOVES the show and is always saying boy2001 is monkish.

I have the same problem with Fox. Some stations just don’t give a television the time of day. Justice - Fox pitted it against it was either Lost or CSI and it failed, so they moved it to Monday night against Two and A Half Men - it’s bound to flop.
Dark Angel was a great show - they cancelled it over the summer.
John Doe - another great show that had a wicked cliff hanger for the season ending, so they cancelled it over the summer.
Then Fox came out with Tru Calling - another show I loved and it was on against CSI which made it very tough to choose. In the end, they killed off Tru’s beau in the season ending, then started filming the next season. The delayed it to a mid-year start and then apparently did air the shows, but I never saw it listed in my satellite guide, so we missed the remaining episodes. It’s quite pathetic that they wouldn’t even move the show to another slot to give it’s fans a chance to continue supporting it.
So now Day Break is out and I won’t watch it on principle. I don’t care if it becomes a smash hit - it took Tru Calling - changed the characters around. If ABC really wanted it - they could have picked it up after Fox dropped it.
