CBS Orders 13 episodes of new cop drama

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

images It would have to be the first series confirmed ordered a full season for Fall 2009.

The cop series, The Bridge, which is about a union leader/cop dealing with crimes on the street and corruption in his police department, has just been confirmed for 13 episodes by CBS the other other.

The Bridge stars Aaron Douglas, Paul Popowich, Inga Cadranel, Stuart Margolin. It may be considered an import as this production is a partnership between the eye network and CTV of Canada, its largest broadcast network. These two companies have previously co-produced Flashpoint, which aired to good reviews last summer.

The Bridge will begin production in Toronto in a few months.

Flashpoint, meanwhile, is doing fine in its second season run on the Friday timeslot.

This week’s recap of ‘CSI Miami’

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

With Halloween just around the corner last night we got treated to a special ‘CSI Miami’. There was a solar eclipse in Miami during which a man was garroted to death. So they start their evidence collecting at the scene, but there are no witnesses because everyone was watching the eclipse. So they start talking about how eclipses are associated with evil. The case takes another strange twist when they find out that the hair that they found at the scene was from a wolf. Do you see the Halloween theme yet?csi-miami-tv-52.jpg They also found some blood on the scene that was definitely human. One of the people working there has cut on his hand, so he slides over into the suspect category. Now the bodies are starting to pile up when a woman is killed. There was also a man attacked, but he survived thanks to his pet wolf hence the wolf hair. They find the same man’s blood on this crime scene as well. Does this seem to be coming together a little too neatly? Horatio thinks so as well. The suspect tells them about the chair he cut his hand on. Upon further inspection the chair was intentionally tampered with so that he would get cut. They run trace on the chair and find that there is a topical cream used for people with extreme sensitivity to the sun on there. csi-miami-tv-57.jpgcsi-miami-tv-57.jpg This explains why the killer attacked during the eclipse and only at night. That eliminates that suspect so Horatio follows a hunch and asks a suspicious guy that was at the scene of the first murder to come in so they can run a test to see if he has that cream on. He didn’t have it on so it seems that he isn’t a suspect either. Now they look into the survivor thinking that maybe he faked his attack, but he gets ruled out too. They end up catching the guy in the act. It was the guy that came in to be tested. He was covered in burns. He admits to it all saying that they were wasting their lives. Hey don’t forget to check out my last post ‘The Latest News’.

‘Dangerous Son’

Sunday, September 30th, 2007

The scene opens to a hostage situation involving a juvenile probation officer. The probation officer is shot in the chest and thrown out the window. Horatio decides that this is some kind of diversionary tactic that enables the suspect to get away. When the CSI start processing the scene Eric lifts a very well defined shoe print using an electrostatic dust lifter.miami-601-01.jpg So Calleigh rounds up the PO’s clients and starts checking footprints. One man, Dillon, has footprints that exactly match. As always though this lead is a dead end. Dillon was convicted of computer hacking not any violent crime. The next suspect was a kid named Kyle. The PO had been notified that Kyle had violated his probation and was going back to jail. Well it turns out that Kyle and his friend Rick were the culprits of this crime. When they search the getaway boat, they find a bullet casing and some hidden drugs.miami-601-07.jpg Well they head back to talk to Rick because it turns out that Rick had been caught dealing drugs so he was going back to jail too.miami-601-05.jpg While all this was going on Horatio had hired an private investigator to find out about Kyle. Long story short Horatio is Kyle’s father. He has the opportunity to tell the kid that he is dad but he doesn’t. I guess Horatio is a deadbeat dad. By the way check out some of my previous posts like ‘Alternate’ and ‘Tonight is the night’.

Coming monday

Thursday, September 20th, 2007

csimiami_dcaruso.jpg The new season is starting monday and I’m excited to see the CSI Miami cast get back at on the streets. My sources tell me that the first episode is called “dangerous son”. All the details are a little murky ,but it is my understanding that Horatio finds out out that a suspect in a hostage situation may in fact be his son. Talking about starting the season out with a bang. I cant wait to see how this plays out.

Horatio: the original csi

Tuesday, September 11th, 2007

My internet has been kind of glitchy so bear with me. Well over the weekend I caught one of the best episodes of CSI: Maimi that I have ever seen. It starts out with a junkie( who is the stereotypical jittery skinny guy scared of the cops.) chasing a guy in a business suit probably to rob him. Flash forward to one dead junkie. His neck was broken so presumably the mugging didn’t go quite the way he wanted it to. But when the body turns out to have been exposed to radiation specifically iodine 321. This is where the storyline really fleshes out. For the first time on csi miami that I have ever seen the second murder victim is still alive and kicking. Poisoned but still alive for a couple of days. She was an Erin Brockovichesque eco rights civil lawyer fighting for the little people against big business. I think that this story hit on a lot of relevant points about the accountability of large corporations. And in the end after all the twists and turns it ends up being a simple stalker who happened to get mugged by the junkie on the way to kill the girl that turned down his advances. Oh and by the way I liked the reference to Hamlet’s friend horatio as the first csi priceless.

Horatio Caine Trivia and Horatio-isms

Tuesday, January 2nd, 2007

Yesterday my 15 year old daughter sat in front of the television for most of the day. Since she’s on vacation and her normal day in school is like boot camp, I figured it was perfectly fine for her veg out. Normally it would be MTV or video games, but yesterday she spent the day watching a CSI: Miami marathon. Other than “Mom, can you fix me something to eat?”, all I heard from her were outbursts of laughter interspersed with “Ewwww, gross!”
csi-miami-horatio-caine-su.jpg

I have to give Horatio credit for the laughter. Seems she inherited my sick sense of humor, and thinks this guy is a scream. So the Horatio-ism for the day…

“Alright, be on the lookout for an Eastern European male with bad teeth who may have access to an ape.”

As for all the “gross” comments, I’m sure they from looking at all that enhanced forensic evidence.

Now, for some Horatio trivia:
According to Caine in CSI: Crime Scene Investigation episode 222 (”Cross Jurisdictions”), his parents named him for the late 19th-Century American author Horatio Alger.

Do you have a favorite quote from the head CSI honcho Horatio? Or how about some trivia?

Law and Order Versus CSI

Thursday, December 28th, 2006

The Law and Order and CSI franchises have certainly made their mark on Crime Drama TV. While Law and Order is the older of the two, CSI continues to outrank Law and Order in the ratings. CSI: Crime Scene Investigation holds the number 2 spot for the week of December 18-24 and CSI: Miami and CSI: New York come in tied at fourth. My favorite (and far better show) Law and Order SVU is 19th.

Horatio-isms, Volume 1

Tuesday, December 5th, 2006

Aaron, a fellow TV blogger, www.watchingtheoffice.com came up with the first entry to this category.

Says Aaron, my favorite Horatio-ism:

“Well that’s because he’s dead, and you’re not.

csi_miami_003.jpg
I think this guy is going down with Yogi Berra for all time “‘isms”.

If you have a favorite Horatio-ism, please do tell! We are going to build an empire here of sayings from super sleuth Horatio.

Horatio does Rio!

Tuesday, December 5th, 2006

So when does Miami crime solving move to Rio de Janero? Only on CSI Miami. Horatio is seeking justice in the murder of his wife and he has to follow the trail to Rio. The scumbag Riaz who killed H’s wife on their wedding day is back in Rio and on the loose. Horatio and Delke are bent on revenge. Oh, excuse me JUSTICE, so they are on his heels.

Horatio checks in on his brother and his brother’s beautiful wife for leads. Unfortunately, his brother ends up dead and his nephew a mule for drugs. Horatio makes this horrible discovery when snooping in his nephew’s backpack and finds latex gloves with the fingers cut off. The packers put the heroine in the fingers and the mules swallow it. Yuck. Here are a few, fresh from the belly of a Brazillian youth.
drug-pellets.jpg

So Horatio and Delke run around Rio averting danger and looking for Riaz. Because where Riaz is, there the nephew is. In the meantime Delke finds Riaz. Unfortunately he finds himself on the wrong end of of a knife belonging to Riaz. But who should appear in the nick of time. None other than the big H. He gets to blow the bad guy away and save his partner in one fell swoop. Like that would ever happen on foreign turf.

Back to Miami. The Dynamic duo manage to track down the nephew Ray Jr., who is under the impression that his father is still alive and has a gun pointed at the Matos, the Miami drug connection. Horatio again get’s to blow away another bad guy. His nephew is reunited with his mom and goes back home to Rio.

I’m not sure where the high points were on this episode. Was it when they showed what a mule’s body looks like when the heroine explodes and is absorbed, or Horatio’s cool demeanor when taking out a bad guy? Both pretty bad.

There was another sub story going on back home im Miami that didn’t amount to much. Pretty much like the whole episode. Thank goodness Law and Order SUV is on tonight.

CSI - Miami

Monday, December 4th, 2006

Well, since I’m blogging about Crime Drama TV now, I guess I’ll check out CSI Miami. Anyone who knows me, knows I just can’t stand that guy with the red hair. So much so that I refuse to remember his name. Help me out here. At any rate, I’ll be back with a wrap up of the show later on.

Oh, I just remembered. His name is Horatio. Boy is he an odd duck. Does anyone really talk like that in real life? And I’ve been to Miami. I have’t even seen anyone dress like him ANYWHERE in that city. What’s up with that. I guess I’ll have to start a Horatio watch now. Or maybe an ongoing list of famous Horatio quotes. Let’s call them Horatioisms.

If you are a CSI Miami viewer, come on. Tell me your favorite thing Horatio has said. Come on, speak up. Don’t be shy!
